چکیده

A Redberry juniper is a basal-sprouting, evergreen conifer that occurs in west and northcentral Texas, southwestern Oklahoma, southeastern New Mexico, and northeastern Mexico (Adams and Zanoni 1979). A distribution map, based on a 1948 Soil Conservation Service (SCS) survey of all juniper (cedar) species in Texas was prepared by Allred (1949) (Figure 1 a). A 1982 SCS survey mapped the distribution of redberry juniper, blueberry (ashe) juniper, and eastern redcedar at three density levels in Texas (SCS 1985). While techniques used for the 1948 and 1982 surveys differed, and the 1948 survey did not separate juniper by species or density, we feel a comparison of selected portions of these two maps in northwest Texas, Le. where redberry juniper is the only species present, is valid and provides a dependable indication of this species population trends.

Redberry juniper as a roughage source in lamb feedlot rations: performance and serum nonesterified fatty acids, urea nitrogen, and insulin-like growth factor-1 concentrations.

Effects of replacing cottonseed hulls with dry redberry juniper leaves on performance and serum NEFA, urea N, and IGF-1 were investigated in Rambouillet lambs (n = 24, initial BW = 28.6 +/- 4.94 kg). In a study with 2 feeding periods (period 1 = 65% concentrate ration, 28 d; period 2 = 85% concentrate ration, 49 d), lambs were individually fed ad libitum treatment diets containing cottonseed hu...

Evaluation of under-story Flora, Biological Form and Geographical Distribution of Juniper Habitat in Chahar Bagh Region of Golestan Province

Iran has high vegetation diversity due to different climates and ecological conditions. Golestan province is one of the most diverse vegetation provinces in the country. Among the plant species of this province, the Juniper genus, with the presence of 6 native species, is one of the few coniferous species which is an important part of the under story vegetation flora of the area. Effects of using ground redberry juniper and dried distillers grains with solubles in lamb feedlot diets: growth, blood serum, fecal, and wool characteristics.

Effects of using ground redberry juniper and dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) in Rambouillet lamb (n = 45) feedlot diets on growth, blood serum, fecal, and wool characteristics were evaluated. In a randomized design study with 2 feeding periods (Period 1 = 64% concentrate diet, 35 d; Period 2 = 85% concentrate diet, 56 d), lambs were individually fed 5 isonitrogenous diets: a contro...

A comparison of techniques for extracting monoterpenoids from Juniperus (Cupressaceae) species

Concentration and composition of monoterpenoids in plant tissue affects a variety of environmental and ecological issues such as plant defenses, plant classification, and phytotoxicity. Developing the techniques for extracting and estimating the concentration and composition of monoterpenoids must be speciesspecific because monoterpenoid storage location varies between species. Declining annual streamflow distributions in the Pacific Northwest United States, 1948-2006

[1] Much of the discussion on climate change and water in the western United States centers on decreased snowpack and earlier spring runoff. Although increasing variability in annual flows has been noted, the nature of those changes is largely unexplored. We tested for trends in the distribution of annual runoff using quantile regression at 43 gages in the Pacific Northwest. Seventy-two percent...
